After so many hot days in Oregon, I was so happy to finally have some cold mornings. After hearing how cold WA was supposed to be, I even packed in a heavy fleece and a stove. Didn’t end up needing either of these items. My fleece made a nice pillow.

Cascade Locks to White Pass is a 148 mile stretch between resupply (I chose not to go into Trout Lake). Normally I eat whatever I want from my food bag, but on this particular stretch I ended up pretty low on food with 3 days to go. It also just happened that this stretch was packed full of huckleberries. One handful of huckleberries: 50 calories. Calories burned in an hour: 500. 10 handfuls of huckleberries per hour – the trail provides!

Dear Big Sauce, I hope you didn’t fall off of a cliff in Part 2. You really know how to hold your audience in suspense.
